U-DOODLE is structured in a way that allows participants to interact with it on a variety of different levels. Some individuals need to be given the chance to visualize their creativity; which could involve the in-transit method for doodle sharing known as the “Doodle Box”. Others may want to experience the social environment of U-DOODLE; which can be found during public doodle sessions, or through workshops, at local events. Funding will give us the capability to achieve our goals within communities that are in need of higher social support and artistic development. If these areas are given a platform where collaborative creativity is not just welcome, but is encouraged, then people will both feel Good and do Good!

The grant funds would be used to purchase materials, supplies, and interesting instructors for the children to get their hands wet in the art field. Their art would be displayed at the Art Center to increase sponsorship of more workshops for children. We want to put a magnifying glass on our children's world of art here in our rural community!

Seriously, what could be cooler than a night spent playing Juliet and love lettering the city of New York? The World Needs More Love Letters and the WIX Lounge will host an epic week of "love letter writing" along with a Love Letter Pinning Party to display all the love letters on the walls of the WIX Lounge as an art exhibit. BUT, we want to make sure that strangers find the best of the best love letters tucked into this big ol' city. For this reason, we will use the funds to supply visitors to the Lounge with pristine stationery, pens and art supplies to create the most vibrant of love letters that will be sure to grab any commuter or city slicker's attention.

The art will come to the viewer, rather than the viewer to the art. Another goal is to ensure art is viewed in an exciting, unusual, and impromptu atmosphere. Another goal of the project is to leave a minimal environmental footprint. For the project I will construct a bike trailer that has a white walled gallery space, solar powered lighting, a sound system, a space for event refreshments, storage for artwork, tools for installation, and an office space. This trailer will tow a sled that serves as a floor for a sculptural installation. The five hundred dollar grant is essential in realizing this project. The startup budget for this project will cost $745

We are located in the East Village Arts District in downtown Long Beach, California and have approximately 14 trees on our block including 3 large palms that will require a lot of "yarn-bombing" to cover. By "yarn-bombing" the trees, it will help further create a warm & fun street art scene in our community. The project will also help bring generations together (especially grandmothers who can teach knitting and create granny squares). The majority of the funds would be used to purchase various types/colors of yarn and string for the volunteers to create their art pieces prior to the day of installation. The balance (approx. $50) would be used to purchase water & snacks for the volunteers on the day of installation.

The goal of the project is to fill the world with positive affirmations through beautiful non-commercial design to make people feel good and to help them manifest positive life changes. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with advertisements of the media, sometimes against our will, it is nice to come across a design that isn’t trying to sell us anything. Something that serves as a balm to our spirit and that speaks to us on a non-consumer level. We would use the $500 to cover printing and material costs so that we can print many of the positive affirmation posters and pass it out during events such as the monthly art walk in Wynwood Miami. This way we can get more people in our community involved in the project.

We will use the funds to cover supply expenses such as drawing pencils and markers, Illustration board, drawing paper, glossy photo paper, printing ink, and mat board. Our plan is to have a group of our Cypher youth lead the community participants over an 8-week period from the initial sketch of each orphan through development of a super-hero character. We would like to host the program at an area cafe and provide beverages and finger-foods to those who participate, which we will receive at a discounted rate because the cafe owner is a parent of one of our Cypher youth. Not only is this program an amazing experience that connects strangers who are worlds apart, but it also brings members of our community together through art.

Our afterschool program is a nurturing space that empowers kids of all socio-economic backgrounds through experiences in dance, puppetry, music, poetry slams, pottery, gardening, digital media, service projects, and multiple visual, culinary and fiber arts. One of our dream projects is to make a collaborative autobiographical film written, directed, filmed, acted, and edited entirely by Urban Arts Afterschool children, focusing on the life stories of young inner-city artists, defining who they are as artists and community members, called ARTobiographies. We would be grateful for any support from individuals and/or organizations that could make this dream of ours possible by contributing toward the cost of technology and production.

This is a study in comparative urbanism, how people of different countries, cultures, and professions interpret the same word. We have been running this concept for a year and have been overwhelmed by the creativity of the submissions. The funds will be allocated in the following ways: 1) Web Development. We have a backend that allows for posts and unlimited users, but we need specific development to allow for more contributors to provide crowdsourcing. 2) Print Examples. In order to show investors the content of our publication, we would use funds to make a limited run of the first edition to show to potential investors and distributors.

This event gives community members, especially those who have never attended an arts class or event, an opportunity to see the many ways that art is integrated into our everyday lives - through painting, drawing, music, poetry and dance! This event provides a safe space for them to experience and explore various art forms outside of the perceived pressures of a workshop. Each year, we also host a public art project. This year we will create a horizontal mural on the street adjacent to our center. Once the hub of African-American arts and entertainment in the City, for years now the community has struggled with the ills of poverty and drugs. This event strengthens Jubilee Arts goal to revive the arts on the historic Pennsylvania Avenue.

Project Survive seeks to reveal the triumphant side of young Pediatric Cancer patients and survivors using photography as a medium. The aim of Project Survive is to photograph young Cancers survivors in portrait form, revealing their scars from past operations, in an artistic attempt to display their strength, courage and beauty. It is often assumed that Cancer alters one’s life for good, in a negative way. Project Survive will disprove this theory. All funds for this project will be used to print, frame, mat and house the photos in an exhibition space. Funds will also be used to create a website devoted exclusively to Project Survive, to advertise the project, and to recruit more incredible young Survivors.

Each artist will choose a rectangle of 1/4-inch cement board to work on. They will compose and then secure their tiles to the cement boards. We will work within a color palette: tans and browns to represent the range of skin colors in our Latino, white and African-American neighborhood, with red, yellow and aqua blue shades as the accents. We will use the money to buy cement boards and adhesive, mosaic tiles and ceramic pieces.

All of the money we raise will be going back to VOX, an art studio that teaches free art classes/workshops to kids and low-cost classes to adults. They also operate as a gallery where emerging artists can show their work. They have been around for 6 years and are fearing closure so we are doing this as a way to keep them around so we can keep art in our community. This is also a good way to showcase local artists who might not have an outlet to show their work.

Youth will work with multi media artist Kirthi Nath to develop a series of PUBLIC POSTERS for display at San Francisco’s 16th Street/Mission BART station, along with a collection of SHORT STORIES, that share fresh perspectives from which to connect with and celebrate young people. These new messages will be developed with youth in a process that is experiential and opens up a terrain of rich self-discovery and exciting creative empowerment. GRANT MONEY WILL PAY FOR PRINTING POSTERS. Exhibiting the posters in public allows youth to not only have a voice but to participate in important conversations, in this case, about celebrating personal strengths and standing up to hate and negative stereotyping.

This space would be a hub space for art, ecology, and community engagement, and it would mirror the goals of Sweet Water Organics in teaching and exposing the ideas of urban sustainability, aquaponics, and the visionary idea of re-imagining Milwaukee as an organic city – transforming the rust belt into a green belt. A crucial component of our design involves modular studios, movable spaces that could be used by artists and scientists alike. We would use the funds to help design and build a prototypical modular studio.

The costs involved in this workshop include a stipend for the instructor, transportation to and from the school and materials. In this case, materials include about 400 pages of paper, pencils, markers, erasers and more. Transportation will have to be via car due to the necessity of carrying enough materials for about 250 kids. In addition, any extranneous funds can be applied to organizational costs like documenting the workshop, hiring assistants for the teaching artist and eventually applying for grants so we can continue to offer in-school workshops like this one. Our Visiting Artists Program offers arts education in communities that need it most, and its continuation depends on the success of these first workshops.
