Funds will be used to bring art everyday between June 13-16 borough-wide in Queens. Each day will present a public art commission that address a national policy issues like healthcare, housing and the economy which will engage artists to re-envision solutions to issues that impact the general public. Drew Cameron makes paper with communities of US Veterans and non-military personnel. Join him for a day long workshop at the Craft and Folk Art Museum. Funds would reimburse supplies and travel for Drew to drive down from the Bay area. Everyone is invited.

Kabul Camera Club will set up a website soliciting donations of used, but working cameras to be given to schools in Kabul. We'll spread the word and solicit camera donations through social media and some strategic PR. But no money will be spent on getting the word out, that's where we'll need your help! The first set of cameras will be sent to the Zabuli Girls School in Deh’Subz, Afghanistan. The school has been in operation since 2008, and recently installed a computer lab with two computers and printers. This will be a learning opportunity for both the teachers and students. The initial $500 will pay for shipping fees to transport the cameras from the US to Afghanistan and some ink/paper to print students' photographs.

The monies will afford us the opportunity to make large prints, miscellaneous costs for installation and any costs for transportation. As we are based in San Diego, it would be great to travel to Los Angeles and exhibit our show within an LA gallery. As a small-press publication, with an even smaller budget, we would be honored with the opportunity to provide individuals a unique experience as printed word and image become tangible within a provided space. Our exhibition will be multifaceted. We will observe the intersections between literature and art, oscillating between the transference of dimensions, providing a fully immersive experience. The exhibit will be concise, intentional and hopefully thought provoking; space will be felt.

The artist will paint their masterpieces at a local earth day celebration. The final works will be silent auctioned the following month at the organizations fund raising dinner. The grant money will get canvases, paint, brushes and an area to set up at earth day celebration. The sign would draw positive attention to our efforts to draw in youth to participate in our programs such as barn dances, ice skating, volleyball, etc. Funds would be used to purchase the paint and the other supplies and equipment to make the art work a reality. The Barn is adjacent to our Community Garden and the Historic Salem Courthouse. Walking paths, benches and a bicycle rack have already been purchased through a grant from Glens Falls Hospital. I would use the money to fund my time to research and put together a presentation, which will be presented at schools and community group meetings. The aim of the presentations is to attract interested people. Working together, we could actually create some demonstration pocket parks, and seek funding for further projects. Research will include: organizing information on practical and legal aspects; gathering visual materials and compiling them in a concise and engaging form; identifying target audience and arranging presentations. Implementation funded by this money: preparing and holding some presentations, and possibly creating 1 demonstration pocket park.

So Say We All is a San Diego nonprofit arts and education collective whose mission is to connect local artists to local audiences in accessible and unexpected locations. Our current venture, “The Far East Project,” seeks to create a people’s history of San Diego’s East County. El Cajon, the heart of East County, has traditionally been neglected by city arts and culture funding and artistic representation. By supporting the storefront portion of “The Far East Project,” an effective and highly visible first step would be taken towards rehabilitating the region’s image and economy. All proceeds would go to the production and labor cost involved with producing and installing 50+ large prints.

All funding will help cover expenses, including: 1. Material Costs for 12"x12" wood canvas construction (1/8" plywood, 1/2"x2 1/2" pine furring strip, wire brads). 2. Promotional Costs (Printing, Advertising). 3. Opening Reception Costs (Refreshments, Entertainment). 4. Installation Costs. Rule 1: The piece must be created in 24 hours. Rule 2: All pieces must be on the 12 in. x 12in. wood canvases provided by the gallery. Rule 3: Pieces cannot exceed the perimeter of the wood canvas. Rule 4: Pieces must be dry and ready to hang.

We will use the funds to buy kites in bulk, as well as art supplies for screen-printing and to decorate a temporary booth from which to hand out kites during the Field Day Closing Gala of the Tom Tom Founders Day Festival, a celebration of music + arts + innovation in Charlottesville. On the previous weekend, we'll make make the kites at public workshops led in community spaces downtown. During the workshops, we will facilitate a dialogue about our creative process, engaging the public. This project will happen at the intersection of art, design, and performance with the city as its canvas. Victoria + Patrick have collaborated on many free art workshops in the past. They're friends who believe in the power of art to build community.

The art will come to the viewer, rather than the viewer to the art. Another goal is to ensure art is viewed in an exciting, unusual, and impromptu atmosphere. Another goal of the project is to leave a minimal environmental footprint. For the project I will construct a bike trailer that has a white walled gallery space, solar powered lighting, a sound system, a space for event refreshments, storage for artwork, tools for installation, and an office space. This trailer will tow a sled that serves as a floor for a sculptural installation. The five hundred dollar grant is essential in realizing this project. As writers and artists, we have an obligation to share our gifts and enrich the lives of others. I started this organization a year ago and fund it 100% myself. I would like to expand this into the local VA Hospital for returning soldiers. I want them to have a place where their words matter & are shared. I would use any funds for printing and mailing copies globally. “words are not so important as to be vaulted away, nor are they worthless enough to throw away, so we give them away”

All of the money we raise will be going back to VOX, an art studio that teaches free art classes/workshops to kids and low-cost classes to adults. They also operate as a gallery where emerging artists can show their work. They have been around for 6 years and are fearing closure so we are doing this as a way to keep them around so we can keep art in our community. This is also a good way to showcase local artists who might not have an outlet to show their work.

Project Create will be an open art studio with supplies that allows clients to learn and develop new skills through instructional classes, create and showcase art at their own pace, and teach classes of their own. All clients, regardless of skill, will be encouraged to learn, create and teach basic art with an emphasis on creating more art participation in their communities. Minors and elderly clients will have free access to the resources, while the general public may participate for a fee. Initial funds will be used to purchase art supplies to teach students basic painting skills.

The funds will be used for prize money and to publicize the event. We wish to bring in even more participants from even more schools than last year!

With the funds we would be able to keep the art program sustainable. The funds for the program are through fundraisers and donations but the money is used quickly to purchase art supplies. With the money, we can stock up on art supplies and not have to worry about if we will be able to continue the program and for the volunteers to not pay out of their pockets. This past month we held a student art show at the neighborhood house. The money could also be used to continue these art shows and used towards promotional materials for the community to come to Over the Rhine. Cincinnati has a lot of history and art culture and the money can be used to take the students of campus and to learn and create art out in the community.

The costs involved in this workshop include a stipend for the instructor, transportation to and from the school and materials. In this case, materials include about 400 pages of paper, pencils, markers, erasers and more. Transportation will have to be via car due to the necessity of carrying enough materials for about 250 kids. In addition, any extranneous funds can be applied to organizational costs like documenting the workshop, hiring assistants for the teaching artist and eventually applying for grants so we can continue to offer in-school workshops like this one. Our Visiting Artists Program offers arts education in communities that need it most, and its continuation depends on the success of these first workshops.

This space would be a hub space for art, ecology, and community engagement, and it would mirror the goals of Sweet Water Organics in teaching and exposing the ideas of urban sustainability, aquaponics, and the visionary idea of re-imagining Milwaukee as an organic city – transforming the rust belt into a green belt. A crucial component of our design involves modular studios, movable spaces that could be used by artists and scientists alike. We would use the funds to help design and build a prototypical modular studio.

The goal of the project is to fill the world with positive affirmations through beautiful non-commercial design to make people feel good and to help them manifest positive life changes. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with advertisements of the media, sometimes against our will, it is nice to come across a design that isn’t trying to sell us anything. Something that serves as a balm to our spirit and that speaks to us on a non-consumer level. We would use the $500 to cover printing and material costs so that we can print many of the positive affirmation posters and pass it out during events such as the monthly art walk in Wynwood Miami. This way we can get more people in our community involved in the project.

We have a vision for Girls Guild. In our workshops, participating artists will lead a group of teenage girls in producing a run of designed work. While teaching the tools and techniques of their trade—whether wood- or metalworking, jewelry-making, leather or textile art, or more conceptual fine arts—they'll pass on their unique approach and critical theory to young makers, helping them build skills, confidence, and social connections with other girls. To make our vision real, first we need to pilot it. We plan to run our first workshop in April, and it'll take a lot of logistics. The funds from this challenge can help us get started by purchasing safety equipment and materials, so we can get girls started on making.
