For over 30 years, School 33 Art Center has been the bridge between contemporary artists and the viewing public. Our community open house, on July 7th, 2012 (3-6pm), will highlight the center's gallery and studio spaces. Visitors will explore the building, meet local artists, listen to live music and create original artwork. Our goal is to remain an engaging and relevant community art center, by showcasing and sustaining emerging and established artists, and offering art classes for children, teens and adults. The funds will be used to defray the costs of the event, including artist fees, materials and refreshments. School 33 is an excellent arts resource, we want to continue to involve our surrounding community, Baltimore city and beyond!

Kabul Camera Club will set up a website soliciting donations of used, but working cameras to be given to schools in Kabul. We'll spread the word and solicit camera donations through social media and some strategic PR. But no money will be spent on getting the word out, that's where we'll need your help! The first set of cameras will be sent to the Zabuli Girls School in Deh’Subz, Afghanistan. The school has been in operation since 2008, and recently installed a computer lab with two computers and printers. This will be a learning opportunity for both the teachers and students. The initial $500 will pay for shipping fees to transport the cameras from the US to Afghanistan and some ink/paper to print students' photographs.

Project Create will be an open art studio with supplies that allows clients to learn and develop new skills through instructional classes, create and showcase art at their own pace, and teach classes of their own. All clients, regardless of skill, will be encouraged to learn, create and teach basic art with an emphasis on creating more art participation in their communities. Minors and elderly clients will have free access to the resources, while the general public may participate for a fee. Initial funds will be used to purchase art supplies to teach students basic painting skills.

U-DOODLE is structured in a way that allows participants to interact with it on a variety of different levels. Some individuals need to be given the chance to visualize their creativity; which could involve the in-transit method for doodle sharing known as the “Doodle Box”. Others may want to experience the social environment of U-DOODLE; which can be found during public doodle sessions, or through workshops, at local events. Funding will give us the capability to achieve our goals within communities that are in need of higher social support and artistic development. If these areas are given a platform where collaborative creativity is not just welcome, but is encouraged, then people will both feel Good and do Good!

The costs involved in this workshop include a stipend for the instructor, transportation to and from the school and materials. In this case, materials include about 400 pages of paper, pencils, markers, erasers and more. Transportation will have to be via car due to the necessity of carrying enough materials for about 250 kids. In addition, any extranneous funds can be applied to organizational costs like documenting the workshop, hiring assistants for the teaching artist and eventually applying for grants so we can continue to offer in-school workshops like this one. Our Visiting Artists Program offers arts education in communities that need it most, and its continuation depends on the success of these first workshops.

This is a study in comparative urbanism, how people of different countries, cultures, and professions interpret the same word. We have been running this concept for a year and have been overwhelmed by the creativity of the submissions. The funds will be allocated in the following ways: 1) Web Development. We have a backend that allows for posts and unlimited users, but we need specific development to allow for more contributors to provide crowdsourcing. 2) Print Examples. In order to show investors the content of our publication, we would use funds to make a limited run of the first edition to show to potential investors and distributors.

A sidewalk sandwich board sign, designed as another public art piece by HIPP and the I-Square Visions art gallery curators, will be used for gallery shows and special events. We will also purchase a “Gallery Open” sign to convey normal operating hours. Finally, we will create a “walking tour” map of our current (& future) outdoor public art installations, so that community members may easily find and learn about these extraordinary pieces. To see samples of our gallery shows and public art installations, go to: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjzcVN8i To learn more about I-Square, go to: http://i-square.us/

The sign would draw positive attention to our efforts to draw in youth to participate in our programs such as barn dances, ice skating, volleyball, etc. Funds would be used to purchase the paint and the other supplies and equipment to make the art work a reality. The Barn is adjacent to our Community Garden and the Historic Salem Courthouse. Walking paths, benches and a bicycle rack have already been purchased through a grant from Glens Falls Hospital. We presently run a FREE 6 week summer program for childre

The funds received will go towards purchasing all materials for the paper and bookmaking workshop. Our host will show children how to use handmade paper & recycled covers to create books. Making books with children promotes reading, encourages recycling, & inspires creative self-expression. The fees raised from this workshop will be sent to vocational training centers in a developing country so that persons living with disabilities can purchase raw materials to develop art products to sell for their own livelihood. These individuals do not have access to employment & developing art projects is their only form of work. Not only does our idea promote art here in our local community, but also helps those in developing countries!

I would use the money to fund my time to research and put together a presentation, which will be presented at schools and community group meetings. The aim of the presentations is to attract interested people. Working together, we could actually create some demonstration pocket parks, and seek funding for further projects. Research will include: organizing information on practical and legal aspects; gathering visual materials and compiling them in a concise and engaging form; identifying target audience and arranging presentations. Implementation funded by this money: preparing and holding some presentations, and possibly creating 1 demonstration pocket park.

This event gives community members, especially those who have never attended an arts class or event, an opportunity to see the many ways that art is integrated into our everyday lives - through painting, drawing, music, poetry and dance! This event provides a safe space for them to experience and explore various art forms outside of the perceived pressures of a workshop. Each year, we also host a public art project. This year we will create a horizontal mural on the street adjacent to our center. Once the hub of African-American arts and entertainment in the City, for years now the community has struggled with the ills of poverty and drugs. This event strengthens Jubilee Arts goal to revive the arts on the historic Pennsylvania Avenue.

For one week of art camp at Linwood Holton Elementary School in Richmond, VA, Chris Milk will be the artist in residence! Kids will have the chance to work with a local artist directly to create a collaborative piece to hang in their school. Each day, there will be drawing and painting workshops, where participants will create their own paintings and under Chris Milk's guidance, the kids will also contribute ideas and energy to a larger, group piece to be permanently displayed in the art gallery at our school! A project that brings together a public school and a local artist, what is better than that?

ArtHang is a new student organization whose goal is to create campus-wide awareness of art-making at Carnegie Mellon University, and to provide exposure for CMU's young artists. We would like to arrange a show of large-format student photography in a University Center Dining Room, a high traffic area where students have lunch and dinner. Due to the high printing costs, displaying photographic work has been an area we have not yet explored; we feel that there is a rich pool of photography to work with on campus that needs a proper venue. A grant from the Good magazine, would enable us to print 13 giclee prints of large-scale photographic works.

The funding will provide supplies and materials to complete the project. I have been passing by PARC on my way home everyday and I've been wanting to do this project. The Program Coordinator at PARC has informed me that they have a small art space and are in need of a teacher to come in and volunteer with their participants. This will not be a one time art class. I would love to engage in workshops in other mediums like quilting and beading as well. Six years ago I formed a nonprofit in my living room and taught art classes on site at after-school centers in Atlanta with at-risk youth. We have a quilt hanging in the downtown Atlanta library, murals in 6 classrooms, and did classes at Families First Group Homes.

At this point there are 125 jackets in the gallery representing the patient voice on five continents. We are continually accepting new members to wear their jackets to medical conferences and events throughout the world. Any money received would pay for paint and shipping costs related to growing the gallery ever larger and to help more artists join the cause.

The goal of the project is to fill the world with positive affirmations through beautiful non-commercial design to make people feel good and to help them manifest positive life changes. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with advertisements of the media, sometimes against our will, it is nice to come across a design that isn’t trying to sell us anything. Something that serves as a balm to our spirit and that speaks to us on a non-consumer level. We would use the $500 to cover printing and material costs so that we can print many of the positive affirmation posters and pass it out during events such as the monthly art walk in Wynwood Miami. This way we can get more people in our community involved in the project.

The art will come to the viewer, rather than the viewer to the art. Another goal is to ensure art is viewed in an exciting, unusual, and impromptu atmosphere. Another goal of the project is to leave a minimal environmental footprint. For the project I will construct a bike trailer that has a white walled gallery space, solar powered lighting, a sound system, a space for event refreshments, storage for artwork, tools for installation, and an office space. This trailer will tow a sled that serves as a floor for a sculptural installation. The five hundred dollar grant is essential in realizing this project. The startup budget for this project will cost $745
