The Idea

TRUE Skool youth artists will work with local lead artists to adopt the Bronzeville neighborhood from June to September 2012. We will work with the community to repaint the historical inner city arts building mural with the original artist, Reynaldo Hernandez, from June to September.

The Specifics

Youth will work with lead adults artists to host community meetings to ask residents and businesses their ideas on what they would like to see on the mural in June. As youth and adult artists repaint the mural from July to August, they will also conduct 2 community clean ups per month in the 5 block radius around the mural site, picking up garbage, removing illegal graffiti and marking storm drains all at no cost to the community. Youth will document their work through video and Google Maps so community stakeholders can see the impact of the mural and community clean ups in real time.
