The project idea is to paint a mural and teach an art class at the local PARC with individuals who have developmental disabilities. PARC is a nonprofit helping to provide a higher quality of life for those who are not born with normal abilities. Small reception and art viewing conclude the project.
The funding will provide supplies and materials to complete the project. I have been passing by PARC on my way home everyday and I’ve been wanting to do this project. The Program Coordinator at PARC has informed me that they have a small art space and are in need of a teacher to come in and volunteer with their participants. This will not be a one time art class. I would love to engage in workshops in other mediums like quilting and beading as well. Six years ago I formed a nonprofit in my living room and taught art classes on site at after-school centers in Atlanta with at-risk youth. We have a quilt hanging in the downtown Atlanta library, murals in 6 classrooms, and did classes at Families First Group Homes.
