El Cajon’s Main Street is currently blighted by bare storefronts, impeding the growth of emerging businesses. The Far East project aims to solicit local photographers to document local inhabitants and landmarks, curate their work in the storefronts, transforming the street into a gallery.
So Say We All is a San Diego nonprofit arts and education collective whose mission is to connect local artists to local audiences in accessible and unexpected locations. Our current venture, “The Far East Project,” seeks to create a people’s history of San Diego’s East County. El Cajon, the heart of East County, has traditionally been neglected by city arts and culture funding and artistic representation. By supporting the storefront portion of “The Far East Project,” an effective and highly visible first step would be taken towards rehabilitating the region’s image and economy. All proceeds would go to the production and labor cost involved with producing and installing 50+ large prints.
