Do ArT is partnering with the Young Folks Urban Farmers to bring a mural to the charter school LA Leadership Academy. The mural will be done by Mexico City artist LIBRE and will face the school's garden and the neighboring community. It will showcase the theme of youth and urban agriculture.
Young Folks Urban Farmers organization has created an urban agriculture program at the school Los Angeles Leadership Academy in Lincoln Heights. They have a beautiful garden where students can grow organic foods for their school cafeteria. Do ArT has asked international artist Libre to paint a mural on the side of the school where the student farmers can see it and the neighboring community can see it. It will incorporate the themes of youth and urban agriculture and will be painted in Ceasar Chavez day, Mar 31. The students will help with the design and will also be learning about Mexican/American muralism. $500 would allow us to purchase all materials needed for the painting of the mural and the lessons with the students.
