The Idea

On June 2, Jubilee Arts will host its 3rd Annual Community Arts Fair held in West Baltimore. This free outdoor event is a showcase of art and performances by youth and adult participants of Jubilee Arts. It also invites other local artists and arts organizations to engage the community in art.

The Specifics

This event gives community members, especially those who have never attended an arts class or event, an opportunity to see the many ways that art is integrated into our everyday lives – through painting, drawing, music, poetry and dance! This event provides a safe space for them to experience and explore various art forms outside of the perceived pressures of a workshop. Each year, we also host a public art project. This year we will create a horizontal mural on the street adjacent to our center. Once the hub of African-American arts and entertainment in the City, for years now the community has struggled with the ills of poverty and drugs. This event strengthens Jubilee Arts goal to revive the arts on the historic Pennsylvania Avenue.
