We would like to participate in an international service project, The Memory Project, in which participants receive a photo of an orphan from another country. With the guidance of youth artists from the Cypher (an after-school arts program), they will magically turn each orphan into a superhero!
We will use the funds to cover supply expenses such as drawing pencils and markers, Illustration board, drawing paper, glossy photo paper, printing ink, and mat board. Our plan is to have a group of our Cypher youth lead the community participants over an 8-week period from the initial sketch of each orphan through development of a super-hero character. We would like to host the program at an area cafe and provide beverages and finger-foods to those who participate, which we will receive at a discounted rate because the cafe owner is a parent of one of our Cypher youth. Not only is this program an amazing experience that connects strangers who are worlds apart, but it also brings members of our community together through art.
